Winterpelt looked at the territory around her. "What is this place?" She murmured quietly to herself. She was surrounded by dense trees, murky swamps, and thin streams of warm water. Her belly rumbled. She hasn't eaten in two days. Her three kits, Mousekit, Fallkit and Nightkit were dragging their paws along the ground behind her. She originally had five kits, but Runningkit had died of hunger, while Beekit fell down a gorge.
Just then, she heard a rustling noise coming from behind a bush...

Winterpelt jumped back. The cat standing in front of her was merely an apprentice, but still looked tough as nails.
"I'm Winterpelt," she mewed. "i was a warrior of Riverclan, until my exile. These are my kits. Please don't hurt us, we are just passing through!" She used her long tail to gather her curious kits toward her.

Winterpelt sighed with relief. This cat was friendly! However, she couldn't keep going, and neither could her kits. She was exhausted, hungry, and her hind leg was injured. Mousekit had sprained his paw, too. "I-I don't think I can keep going," she said, falling over to her side.

Winterpelt stared up at the lean, battle-scarred big cat in awe. Based on his features, she recognized that the huge feline was a cheetah, the animals that the elders told tales about when she was a tiny kit.
"H-Hello," Winterpelt stuttered, still laying down in exhaustion. "Please don't hurt me, I swear I haven't taken any of your prey!" Nightkit was hissing and spitting, while Fallkit and Mousekit hid behind their mother, shaking with fear.

"Okay," she meowed with relief. Thank Starclan that this clan wouldn't hurt her like the last one.

Winterpelt stood up, her legs shaking. "I promise that I shall listen to Darkclan and their rules. But I don't know how long I will be staying. Is that okay?"

"If it isn't a burden, then you can hold Fallkit. She won't give you any trouble." Winterpelt picked up Mousekit by her scruff.
"I CAN WALK, MOTHER," Nightkit insisted loudly when she tried to pick up the tiny kit also. Slightly embarrassed, Winterpelt let her walk by her side to avoid any more protests.

"Okay!"

Winterpelt followed the apprentice deeper into the woods. Her paws, not adapted to the rough forest terrain, would stumble over brambles, roots and fallen sticks. However, Nightkit didn't seem to be having trouble, since her father was a Shadowclan warrior.

Amaryllis watched as Fragment dragged the prisoner into the cell. Sighing, she padded over to Glasskit.
"This is dumb. There was no need for Fragment to do that. The poor prisoner is probably scared to death." Amaryllis has never captured a cat, because she never needed to. It was a dumb ritual, that was done mostly by her "one-and-only" Scarclan.

Mousefoot was about to pounce on a vole when it suddenly scurries away. Confused, he perks up his ears. He could faintly hear Fallingleaf yowling in the distance.
